1. Information We Collect
When you sign in to DashHOOD using your Google Account, we receive:
- Name — your first and last name, used to set up your profile.
- Email Address — to identify your account and send essential service updates.
We do not request or receive your birthday, gender, or any other sensitive information from Google.
You may also choose to provide the following information directly in the app:
- Username — a unique handle that identifies you in the community. A username is required to use DashHOOD.
- Profile Picture — optional. Used to personalize your experience and display your identity within the app's social features (such as "Postcards").
- Birthday and Gender — optional. You enter these yourself, and you can leave them blank or change them at any time.
- Interests — optional tags you add to your profile to find relevant people and activities.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use this data specifically to:
- Create and maintain your user account.
- Provide a personalized user interface.
- Ensure a consistent identity for your interactions within the BYU-Idaho campus community.
3. Data Sharing and Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. In the future, we may introduce optional surveys. We will only share data derived from those surveys if you provide explicit, affirmative consent within the app at that time. Currently, no such data sharing exists.
4. Data Retention and Deletion
You have full control over your data.
- Account Deletion — you can delete your account at any time via the Settings menu in the app.
- Deep Clean — once you trigger a deletion, our system performs a "deep clean" on our backend, permanently removing your profile and associated personal information from our databases.
